My dad took the photo above, as I hammer away at the Berlin Wall, in the summer of 1990.
Rotating header photos are my own (2014/2019). One set of them shows the equestrian statue in Windhoek after its removal, a battle site in Omaruru, the jetty in Swakopmund, and a view over Lüderitz; another set of photos shows a memorial on Shark Island and mass graves on the outskirts of Swakopmund. These photos are meant to portray the legacies and remnants of the empire – and that legacies of German colonialism in Southwest Africa sit on thousands of graves.
