Photos and “the colonial gaze”:

All photos are my own, including rotating headers (2014/2019). One set of them shows the equestrian statue in Windhoek after its removal, a battle site in Omaruru, the jetty in Swakopmund, and a view over Lüderitz; another set of photos shows a memorial on Shark Island in Lüderitz and mass graves on the outskirts of Swakopmund. This sequence of photos is meant to capture the inherent violence of settler colonialism as imprinted on Namibia’s landscape.
